Recently, the Science and Engineering sub-committee of the third Academic Committee of the Open University of China (OUC) held a workshop on research-project applications for computer science and civil engineering.
Professor Xu Jinan from the School of Computer and Information Technology at Beijing Jiaotong University, and Professor Deng Yang from the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, led the workshop, presenting application-writing strategies and ideas while also discussing current issues in natural-language processing and structural engineering. They offered one-on-one project-application feedback to young OUC teachers.
The teachers discussed topic selection, writing, and research difficulties with the experts.
All the participants stated that they had gained a deeper understanding of application procedures, topic selection, research content and objectives, critical issues, and key elements such as research plans and feasibility analysis for national Natural-sciences Foundation projects from the workshop, while also becoming better at writing project applications.
About twenty teachers from the OUC Faculty of Science and Engineering, the Experimental School, and the Information and Technology Department participated.
