For celebrations of the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Open University of China (OUC) launched a series of micro lectures on the 100-year history of the CPC in its "Party History Cloud Classroom", aiming to further implement the OUC's “Party History Learning and Education" plan.

In 1921, the CPC was launched in Shikumen, a lane in Shanghai, and Nanhu in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, and from there expanded over the years, through struggle and innovation, to lead the Chinese people in a great leap toward strength and prosperity. At the ceremony marking the centenary, General Secretary Xi Jinping solemnly declared that the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects had been achieved in China.

The centenary of the CPC is an occasion for it to reflect on both its brilliant past and bright future. The first group of micro lectures focuses on 20 important venues connected with its history, and also links it with ideological and political education at the OUC. The lectures depict the grand journey of the CPC as a process of national awakening as well as unremitting effort and courage based on firm ideals and beliefs.

Our current prosperity makes us beholden to this past, and gives us the responsibility to study the history of the Party and work toward an even more splendid future. We should strengthen our ideals and confidence, continue to work hard, promote reform and development of the university, and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC with practical achievements!
