On 25 December 2020, the Open University of China (OUC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Development and Reform Commission, Education Commission, and Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Daxing district, Beijing, and Beijing Zhonghang Future Technology Group, at the OUC convention centre.
Zhou Liyun, secretary of the Party Committee of Daxing District, Beijing; Wang Xuejun, director of the Daxing Development and Reform Commission; Wu Shanliang, director of the Daxing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau; Zhao Jianguo, director of the Daxing Education Commission; Jing Degang, secretary of the Party Committee, and OUC president; Ju Chuanjin, OUC vice president; Liu Chen, deputy secretary of the OUC Party Committee; Liu Yong, chairman of Beijing Zhonghang Future Technology Group, and the heads of company departments, attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Feng Liguo, director of the OUC President’s Office.
The agreement aims to take advantage of the strengths and integrate the resources of all parties involved, while exploring approaches to training in the aviation-services sector and enhancing the scope of continuing education.
Zhou Liyun investigated the OUC convention centre and stated requirements for cooperation and future exchanges.
Jing Degang pointed out that the OUC should, at this stage of development, plan ahead, enhance mutual understanding, accelerate cooperation in terms of training vocational educators, promoting education of older adults, and internationalisation, and provide more education services in Daxing.
Wang Xuejun stressed that Beijing Daxing International Airport is a new source of impetus to national development as part of the "14th Five Year Plan". Aiming to enhance its human resources, Daxing will strengthen cooperation with all parties in terms of allocation of educational resources, implementation of teaching, educational reform, establishing training for aviation services, and accelerating the establishment of support for the airport-related economy.
Liu Yong said that, with the guidance and support of the Daxing administration and the OUC, Beijing Zhonghang Future Technology Group would help train personnel in aviation services and promote continuing education.
Liu Chen stressed the importance of cooperation as a means of implementing the guidance of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, building a high-quality education system, and promoting the integration of universities and enterprises. The OUC is willing to work with Daxing district and Beijing Zhonghang Future Technology Group to explore approaches to training in the aviation-services sector as part of its commitment to continuing education.
