On 15 September 2020, the headquarters of the Open University of China (OUC) held a meeting to report on the work of the inspection tour for the 2nd final examinations of the 2020 spring semester. About 110 university leaders, middle-level cadres, inspectors, and staff involved in examinations, attended the meeting.

Jing Degang, secretary of the Party committee and president of the OUC, pointed out that it is necessary to carefully analyse the phenomena reflected by the inspection teams, investigate the real situation in a timely fashion, and deal with any violations seriously. With regard to the future examination work, Jing Degang stressed that the OUC should have a clear understanding of the current situation and attach great importance to its complexity. The OUC should make unremitting efforts to implement all measures, deepen reform, seek breakthroughs, and strive for improvement through quality. It should conscientiously implement the requirements for teaching quality set forth in the OUC Comprehensive Reform Plan. It should establish a positive attitude, healthy atmosphere, and clean environment and make concerted efforts to achieve the goal of building a first-class global open university as proposed by the Party Congress.

Lin Yu, OUC vice president, noted that the rectification of violations in examinations is an important part of the implementation of the Strategy of Creating Excellence and Improving Quality in Degree Education. The inspection tour of examinations is an important way to rectify illegal behaviours. He stressed that it is necessary to use information technology to reform examination methods and further promote the administration of examinations. Based on the "One Network, One Road and One Platform" currently being built, the OUC is striving to offer students' more considerate learning services, better learning experiences, and better learning quality. Students' learning behaviours will be recorded and traced, and the preconditions for taking examinations will be accurately controlled to ensure the real occurrence of learning behaviours.

Ye Zhihong, director of the Academic Affairs Department, introduced the development of the inspection tour, gave a summary and analysis of the examinations, and described the effects of examination management. Representatives of the 10 inspection teams reported on the relevant situations, outstanding problems, and suggestions for improvement found during the inspection.
