Since the outbreak of the COVID--19 epidemic, OUC Online Education and Technology, along with the Information Technology Department of the Open University of China (OUC), have provided strong support to the OUC's Hubei Branch in making use of information technology for online instruction.

Through the OUC's Cloud Classroom, teachers at the Hubei Branch have been able to hold live classes, helping disseminate information on infection control while also conducting regular teaching. Both they and their students have embraced the live interaction that takes place in the Cloud Classroom, and each class can be replayed afterward by students wishing to consolidate what they have learned.

With the technical support of the OUC, the Hubei Branch has been able to offer over 600 live classes via Cloud Classroom, enabling tutorial centres throughout Hubei to both provide tutoring and show students how to study online.

Throughout the epidemic, the OUC has offered live online classes and technical support for Hubei-Branch students on the “Internet Plus University” model that offers access to anyone, anytime, anywhere. This has demonstrated the advantages of OUC system in particular and of open education in general in terms of not just enabling teaching but also enhancing it.
