On 18-20 September 2019, the Open University of China (OUC) held an annual teaching work seminar for computer science majors in Enshi, Hubei Province with the purpose of strengthening the construction of the computer science discipline and teaching team, promoting teaching reform, and enhancing the teaching quality of the OUC’s organisational system. Eighty-one teachers from 45 OUC branches participated in the seminar.
During the seminar, Shao Yunda, deputy director of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, gave a report titled Report on the Status Quo of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Responsible personnel from the Faculty’s School of Computer Science and Technology introduced the construction status of computer science majors at the OUC.
Associate professor Zheng Wei from the Zhejiang branch gave a report titled The Practice and Exploration of a Three-Step Methodology for Ideological and Political Education: In-Depth Excavation, Smart Design, and Re-Integration. Hu Guangyao, general secretary of the Education and Training Sub-Committee of the China Software Industry Association, delivered a report titled Industry Development, New Engineering Discipline, and the Cultivation of Professionals in Big Data.
Experience exchanges were also arranged during the seminar. Representatives held discussions on the reform of teaching, examinations, the teaching team, and resource construction.
The participants all said that they would resolutely implement the quality enhancement strategy for degree education and work hard to strengthen the OUC computer science discipline and improve the construction and development of its computer science majors, making them key majors of the OUC with high quality, reputation, and characteristics.
