From 14-15 May 2019, the third plenary meeting of the Management Sub-Committee of the Academic Committee of the Open University of China (OUC) was held in Guangzhou.
The meeting aimed to enhance the discipline and major development of management science at the OUC and strengthen the construction of the Management Academic Sub-Committee. A total of 22 people attended the meeting, including Liu Zhimin, director of the OUC Faculty of Economics and Management and director of the Management Sub-committee; Zhai Zhiyin, vice president of the Open University of Guangdong and deputy director of the Management Sub-Committee; Sun Liqing, teaching supervisor of the Qingdao branch and deputy director of the Management Sub-Committee; Li Song, director of the OUC Faculty of Education; Shao Yunda, deputy director of the OUC Faculty of Science and Engineering; Professor Guo Xiaoxia, OUC Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine, and other relevant teachers from OUC Faculty of Economics and Management.
Liu Zhimin summarised the work of the Management Sub-Committee and announced its 2019 work plan. Zhai Zhiyin gave an academic report titled "Understandings of and Thoughts on the Rural Revitalisation Strategy. Members of the sub-committee exchanged the academic work progress in their respective branches and discussed relevant issues concerning the academic forum to be held later in 2019. The attending members also paid visits to Guangdong Polytechnic Institute and investigated the practical part of relevant majors in management science.
Several common areas of understanding were reached at this meeting: Some progress has been made by the Management Sub-Committee regarding providing advice for organisational construction, discipline and major development, guiding teachers to carry out academic activities, and building connection channels for teachers with regular higher education institutions. In 2019, the Management Sub-Committee will follow university key work points to improve discipline development, major construction, teachers’ science and research interests, and their teaching abilities, with a focus on fostering learners’ virtue and enhancing the quality of learner development. The Management Sub-Committee will play a part in discipline development, major construction, and the implementation of teaching process by innovating thinking and relying on the strength of the OUC system on the basis of the OUC Academic Committee.
The specific tasks for the rest of this year were discussed in detail and the themes and formats of the coming academic forum have taken shape.
Members of the sub-committee performed their duties and the expected goals have been achieved.
