From 13-17 May 2019, the Open University of China (OUC) headquarters conducted special teaching supervision work for its Xinjiang branch, Bingtuan branch, Yunnan branch, and Software School.
Two special teaching supervision teams have been established, consisting of Han Yi and Hu Po, director and deputy director of OUC Quality Supervision and Evaluation Centre, as well as four other responsible persons. The supervision teams carried out teaching supervision work for four branches (schools) and seven local (schools) study centres in five aspects: teaching quality, analysis and application of teaching management data, the management of study centres, the construction and application of learning resources, and the application of the “Six-Network Integration” learner development model.
The branches (schools) and study centres attach great importance to this work and made sufficient preparation for the supervision. While recognising the achievements and progress made by the branches and study centres, the supervision teams also offered feedback about the problems they discovered and gave suggestions for promoting the integration of multiple platforms (including online live broadcast platforms), strengthening the analysis, research, and application of quality factors, improving online teaching teams, standardising school operation in the study centres, standardising major establishments, and implementing the requirements issued by relevant OUC documents in a timely fashion, and also urged them to make timely rectifications.
Special teaching supervision is one of the regular measures that the OUC takes to implement quality control. Over the past few years, special teaching supervision and comprehensive teaching inspection have been linked together as complementary work measures in order to urge the branches to rectify their problems and enhance teaching quality.
