The Foundry School of the Open University of China (OUC) recently held a meeting on the examination and approval of the training programme for the Intelligent Control Technology major.

Professor Zhao Zhili from Shenyang University; Professor Kang Jinwu from Tsinghua University; Professor Li Zengmin from Hebei University of Science and Technology; and General Manager Hu Jianjun from the Machinery Factory of Tsinghua University attended the meeting as evaluation experts.

Zhi Xiaoheng, vice supervisor of the China Foundry Association and executive deputy dean of the Foundry School, delivered a speech. He believes that the new majors must adhere to the actual needs of companies and industries in the foundry industry, conform to the industry’s development trends, and follow the inherent law of the foundry major construction. The new major must inherit and promote traditional and old technology, provide technical support for the foundry industry in the future, and play an important role in the cultivation of modern professionals for the foundry industry. Hu Lifeng, deputy director of the OUC Department of Academic Affairs, introduced the current situation in the OUC and a description of the requirements for its approval. He put forward suggestions for the learning standards and content of the training. He believes that it is necessary to make good arrangements for the training and practice of applied professionals. A training scheme for intelligent control technology was also introduced at the meeting.

The participating experts reviewed the training plan separately. After authentication and discussion, all of the experts agreed that the curriculum system of the major is complete, that the design of practical teaching meets the needs of front-line learners and conforms to the laws of distance education, and that the professional training programme has been approved in the evaluation.
