Qinghai Radio and Television University (Qinghai RTVU) recently held a meeting to approve the construction of the undergraduate programme for its Chinese Ethnic Language and Culture (Tibetan Language and Literature) major. Experts and scholars engaging in Tibetan Language and Literature research from the Tibetan College of Northwest Minzu University, Humanities and Nationality Normal Colleges of Qinghai Normal University, Qinghai Folk Literature and Art Association, and Qinghai Nationality Textbook Compilation Centre participated in the meeting.

The attending experts heard about the background, necessity, feasibility, construction content, and anticipated objectives of discipline construction made by the discipline construction team, and examined the materials and personnel training programmes of the major construction projects. The expert group believes that Qinghai RTVU has conducted an impressive amount of preliminary research work concerning the social needs, employment prospects, and inheritance of Chinese culture for the construction of the major. On this basis, it has designed the undergraduate specialty construction plan and personnel training programme. The construction of majors at Qinghai RTVU has a high political stance, a defined purpose, and a clear concept. With its long history of school running, a strong teaching team for joint construction and sharing, and excellent hardware and software, Qinghai RTVU is fully qualified for the construction of the undergraduate programme in the major. The expert group approved the undergraduate programme for the Chinese Ethnic Language and Literature (Tibetan Language and Literature) major at Qinghai RTVU. They also gave suggestions for the revision of the documents of the project and personnel training programme for the construction of the major.

The Chinese Ethnic Language and Literature (Tibetan Language and Literature) major is the first featured undergraduate major developed and constructed on the basis of the original major of Tibetan Language and Literature by Qinghai RTVU. In recent years, Qinghai RTVU has made great efforts to enhance the overall strength of the university and achieved new breakthroughs in building unique major. The Chinese Ethnic Language and Culture (Tibetan Language and Literature) and Computer Application Technology in Tibetan Language majors have already been established, the Internet of Things Engineering and Mobile Business majors are under construction, and the construction of the undergraduate programme of the Chinese Ethnic Language and Literature (Tibetan Language and Literature) has been launched. Through this self-constructed major construction, Qinghai RTVU will gradually build a characteristic major group with demonstration effect in Qinghai and even the western region, which will then provide professional support for the construction of open universities and a talent guarantee for the construction of a well-off society in ethnic areas in Qinghai .
