A senior training class for teachers from the administrative management major of the Open University of China (OUC) was held in Beijing on 15 October 2018. The week-long class attracted 71 teachers from 33 OUC branches, the Bayi School, and the OUC headquarters.

The training class, the fourth of its kind to be held for backbone teachers from the administrative management major in the OUC organisational system, focused on key issues in the administrative management major, such as information technology and continuing education development, national governance modernisation, government performance management, reform and innovation, administration streamlining and delegation, and urban governance reform. Eight experts from a number of universities and research institutions, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC (Chinese Academy of Governance), were invited to give lectures. In addition to professional training, the organisers also arranged for Gu Xiaohua, teacher of the Faculty of Political Science and Law, to introduce current thoughts on the construction and reform of the administrative management major of the OUC, so as to help teachers clearly understand the construction and development direction of the major, in a speech titled “Construction and Reform of the OUC’s Administrative Management Major: Discussing the School-Running System and Abilities”.

After a week’s study, the trainees said that the training courses were well arranged, compact, and professional. The instruction by well-known teachers broadened their horizons, inspired many new concepts, and enriched and updated their knowledge.
