On the morning of 5th August 2018, Guangdong and Guangzhou “Realising Dreams of Further Education Action” achievement exhibition and graduation ceremony for the class of 2018 of the Guangzhou Experimental School of the Open University of China (OUC) was held at Guangzhou Radio and TV University (Guangzhou RTVU). Around five hundred staff and student representatives attended the ceremony.

OUC vice president Liu Chen granted graduation certificates to the outstanding graduates of the class of 2018, turned the tassels for the bachelor degree graduate representatives, and offered his best wishes to the students from frontline industrial workers in enterprises.
At the graduation ceremony, vice president of Guangzhou RTVU Xiong Jun stressed that everyone faces a variety of life choices and that everyone should be given the opportunity to discover their full potential. He added that although the graduates all come from different backgrounds, they have all realised their dreams of completing their university studies. He suggested that the warmest applause should be given to the students themselves and congratulated them for creating their own success.
Zhang Chenrui, a young boy from Meizhou, Guangdong, who now works at an automobile equipment manufacturing company, gave a speech as valedictorian, in which he shared his learning experiences and expressed his sincere thanks for the care and support given by both the trade union and the university.
Director of Publicity Education and Online Work Department of Guangzhou Federation of Trade Union, Hai Lantian, delivered a speech on behalf of the trade union, in which he encouraged the graduates to treasure the learning opportunities created by the municipal trade union and make full use of the online and offline educational platforms built by the OUC and Guangzhou RTVU in order to continuously enhance their skills and strive to become new kind of worker based on knowledge and technology.
The “Realising Dreams of Further Education Action” achievement exhibition attracted nearly 20 media from the central government, provincial, and municipal levels, demonstrating that “Realising Dreams of Further Education Action” for migrant workers has yielded significant fruit in Guangzhou.
