In order to strengthen the construction of the teaching staff for the finance major, improve the level of expertise, and increase the teaching ability and level of the teachers, OUC conducted a senior seminar for core teachers of the finance major from 11-15th June 2018. Forty-six teachers from the finance major from 27 branches attended the seminar and completed the courses. Liu Chen, vice president of the OUC, issued course completion certificates to the trainees.

At the opening ceremony, Cai Yunjiao, deputy minister of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the OUC, introduced the main duties and future working plan of the Faculty of Economics and Management in terms of teacher training. He looked back over the history of the construction and development of the finance major and talked about the working ideas of the reform of the finance major and its future development direction.

The seminar, which lasted for one week, focused on two training courses for corporate finance and insurance. Professor Zhang Haiyan from Beijing Normal University and professor Wang Xujin from Beijing Technology and Business University were invited to the chief editors and lecturers for the courses. They gave detailed instruction on teaching methods, corporate finance, and cutting-edge knowledge about the insurance industry. Professor Wang Dingding from Central University of Finance and Economics, professor Xie Taifeng from Capital University of Economics and Business and Professor Shi Xiuhong from Central University of Finance and Economics introduced the hot topics and development tendencies of China’s capital markets, the macro-economic situation analysis in the new era, and financial risk management. After the training, experts and trainees held an interactive Q&A .

During the group discussion session, the trainees discussed the setup of the major, curricula construction, online resource application, teacher responsibility, course training, and admission conditions.
Teachers who participated in the seminar commented that it opened up their horizons, further promoting their theoretical accomplishment, and learning teaching experience. They hoped there will be more online and offline communication and cooperation, and more training opportunities for teachers.
