The Faculty of Science and Engineering of the Open University of China and Beijing Ewaybot Technology LLC recently held discussions on the feasibility of the faculty launching a robotics engineering major.
A delegation from Beijing Ewaybot Technology LLC attended the seminar, including chief project director Liu Yehang, sales director Feng Yi. OUC personnel in attendance included director of the Faculty of Science and Engineering Guo Hong and deputy director Yuan Wei, as well as relevant teachers from the Faculty.
Beijing Ewaybot Technology LLC introduced the launch status of the robotics engineering major (undergraduate), the regulations of its curriculum system, and the implementation of its field work in regular higher education institutions. Both sides believe that the establishment of the OUC’s robotics engineering major should be different from regular higher education institutions in terms of goals and orientations, curriculum system content, and implementation of field work. Its objective should be to develop high quality applied professionals with maintenance, installation, and debugging skills. In addition, the two sides discussed the possibility of cooperation in field work and how to strengthen the realisation of simulation in field work.
As an indispensable part of the advanced manufacturing industry, industrial robotics has become an important indicator of the level of national manufacturing and technology. Robotics Engineering is an engineering discipline that integrates theory and application, and interconnects with three core disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Electrical Automation.
