In the 2017 autumn semester the amount of visits to the OUC’s learning network increased significantly. As of 6th December, the total number of requests nationwide reached 2.813 billion, amounting to 130.99TB of network traffic.
The peak value of daily visits reached 4.2T, around 2.6 times more than last semester and 9.13 times more than last year, demonstrating that the learning network has been recognised by the majority of teachers and students.
The data shows that even though the general level of access to the learning network has greatly improved, the amount of visits to each branch is imbalanced. The five branches with the highest traffic volume are Hebei, Chengdu, Sichuan, Jiangsu, and Chongqing, accounting for 63.9% of the total traffic. Conversely, the bottom 20 branches accounted for only 7.3% of the total traffic, suggesting that a number of schools have not paid enough attention to online teaching and have not yet made online teaching a key method of improving the quality of teaching.
