Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (UDIMA) was founded in 1977. The third largest distance university in Spain approved by the Spanish Ministry of Education and recognised by the EU, UDMA offers open and distance learning for students at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.

In October 2016, the OUC and UDMA signed an MOU, stating their aim to carry out cooperation programmes in the fields of personnel exchange, scientific research, and other major mutually recognised aspects.

In July 2019, a delegation led by president of UDIMA Arturo de las Heras visited the OUC and the two sides discussed their wish to promote pragmatic cooperation in the areas of football education courses and an online Confucius Institute.

In December 2019, the OUC delegation visited the headquarters of UDIMA and discussed further details of the cooperation. Spanish football culture and teaching methods will be introduced into the football courses offered as part of the social sports guidance and management major of the OUC Faculty of Education. The two sides discussed the duration, production standards, and costs of video content for football courses and reached a basic consensus.
