The Credit Bank of China of the Open University of China (Learning Outcomes Accreditation Centre) recently organised a meeting to approve the learning achievement accreditation units for the software industry in China. Eighteen accreditation units for the software industry developed by the China Software Industry Association in the fields of graphic design, network management, Web front-end development, and Android development have been approved.

Wang Ying, dean of the OUC Education Research Institute; Gao Lijun from the Academic Affairs Department of Beijing Information Technology College; Yuan Wei, deputy director of the OUC Faculty of Science and Engineering; Zheng Hao, general manager of the China Soft Corporation Training Centre; and Wang Yanqing, director of the IBM Greater China Region developer eco-project, participated in the meeting. Lu Yumei, deputy director of the OUC Credit Bank (Learning Outcomes Accreditation Centre), chaired the meeting.

Experts listened to a report on the development of the learning outcomes accreditation modules given by Hu Guangyao, secretary-general of the Education and Training Committee of the China Software Industry Association, and carefully reviewed the submitted verification materials. After assessment, the experts agreed that the China Software Industry Association has systematically investigated and defined the industry’s demand for talent and selected 18 accreditation units developed in the direction of graphic design, network management, Web front-end development, and Android development that meet the needs for human resources development as part of industry development. According to the requirements of the working procedures to formulate the OUC Credit Bank Standard, the industry structure is reasonably divided, the development of the accreditation units is scientific and rigorous, and the units enjoy strong operability.

Following approval, the learning outcomes accreditation units of China's Software Industry will be released on the information platform of the OUC Credit Bank and will be used as the standard for corresponding learning outcomes conversion and mutual recognition by the Credit Bank.

To date, the OUC Credit Bank has approved more than 160 accreditation units for logistics, postal services, automobile maintenance, coal, social work, pre-school education, software, and other industries. Accreditation units for property management, machinery, textiles, and circular economy industries will also be introduced.
