Wang Zhuo is committed to the educational cause of the Open University of China (OUC) and adheres to the educational policy of the Communist Party of China. He has firm ideals and beliefs, and possesses a solid understanding as well as benevolence and dedication. He is a model of a teacher who is ethical, believes in socialism, and has made outstanding contributions to teaching, research, and the construction and development of the OUC.

After graduating in July 2009, Wang Zhuo joined the Civil Engineering Department of the Engineering College of China Central Radio and Television University (CCRTVU) as its first doctoral-degree holder, taking charge of the undergraduate civil-engineering programme, and responsible for its construction, development and reform. In building curriculum resources, Wang Zhuo focused on the orientation and policies of the OUC, and in 2012 produced a teaching-reform plan for his programme, and began to put it into action. In the second half of 2017, he studied and took part in an expansion of the Civil Engineering programme, inviting experts for discussions and exchanges in order to place this expansion on a firm basis.

Wang Zhuo places importance on combining his work with research, specifically research into educational reform and teaching practices. This has included looking into how engineering is taught at the University of Toronto, and this study was presented at the 14th Seminar on the Work of Deans (Directors) of Civil Engineering Colleges or Departments at National Universities , gaining attention from more universities and giving out the voice of open universities in the field of civil engineering in China.

Wang Zhuo has also overseen the granting of degrees within the programme in terms of verification and reporting. He is responsible for the examination of the dissertations and related materials, and has proposed classification and two-stage examination of dissertations. This involves, first, dividing the civil-engineering dissertations into three categories: structural design, organisational design, and research, based on the types of topics selected. Then, two basic requirements, for the contents and findings, are determined. Next, preliminary examination of dissertations is carried out based on these requirements, and the papers are organised by topic before being examined in detail. This has ensured the quality of dissertation examination.

Comrade Wang has been involved in course construction, teaching methodology, and programme management since he started work as a teacher at the university, and has had outstanding achievements. Among the three core network courses he has completed, "Architectural Structural Testing" was named a top-quality university course in 2012, and likewise at the 16th National Multimedia Educational Software Competition; what's more, his "Principles of Concrete Structural Design" was named a top-quality university course in 2016. Before that it had been selected as the first pilot course for the network teaching team, implemented in the autumn semester of 2015 and enhancing the quality of the team. Through its operations, the five elements of learning space, network courses, support services, learning evaluation and teaching management have been integrated into online teaching, providing a basis for the "Six-Network Integration" teaching model.

While helping construct the programme, Wang Zhuo has also tracked the development of the discipline, and emphasised research, and collaboration with other institutions. He has been granted funding by the National Natural Sciences Foundation of China and the Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China, and published papers in SCI journals. Since starting work, he has been first author on 14 academic publications, including 9 in core Chinese journals, 5 of which were included in EI. In 2010, 2012 and 2014 his papers placed second twice and third once among university research papers, and in 2010, 2014 and 2016 he was given financial support for his work by the university. Finally, in 2014, with the support of the OUC, he published his own academic monograph.

For his outstanding achievements, Wang Zhuo was promoted to associate professor at the end of 2011 and to professor at the end of 2016. At the end of 2017, though the youngest professor at the university, he became deputy director of the new Academic Committee of the OUC, an exceptional promotion. He is also deputy director of the Branch Committee of Science and Engineering, providing guidance to the development and teaching of the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
