Guan Shufeng, a member of the Communist Party of China, is an international-business promoter. He was an English undergraduate at Guangzhou Radio and TV University from September 2005 until July 2007, and is now director of the Guangzhou General Office of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and president of the Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Youth Federation.
Guan Shufeng is ethical, law-abiding and career-minded, with a strong sense of responsibility and of the “big picture”. He is kind, honest, team-oriented and responsible, and has done well in a variety of jobs.
Helping develop business tourism in Haizhu District
As someone working to enhance business travel, he undertook the selection of “10 scenic spots in Haizhu” as a way to advertise the district as a tourist destination. A planner and organiser, he also launched the “Fresh Green of the Oasis” one-day tour of Haizhu as part of Guangzhou’s tourism system, which has boosted similar tours in other districts and helped promote the development of tourism in Guangzhou. Finally, he has helped compile and edit the Guide to Tourism and Shopping in Guangzhou’s Haizhu District, and compile and revise the Haizhu District Master Tourism-development Plan, a project lasting nearly 2 years.
Receiving foreign visitors and assisting in the success of the Guangzhou Asian Games
In 2010, at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, he contributed by way of his wide contacts with overseas Chinese in foreign countries as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. First, he organised the “Enthusiastic Asian Games and Charming Guangzhou” tour of Guangzhou for overseas Chinese there as well as in Hong Kong and Macao, which included presenting a flag to the service-team volunteers, who helped bring overseas Chinese together in support of both their country and the Games. Second, he traveled with the art troupes of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Guangzhou to publicise the Games and the city, organising four such trips in 2010. Through special performances to express their gratitude and appreciation, the visitors introduced Guangzhou's preparations for the Asian Games and the new face of urban construction there. Third, he participated in receiving foreign guests throughout the Asian Games, serving them well while undertaking promotions and recommendations among them in terms of investments and business opportunities, such as those associated with the Guangzhou Fair. He was recognised for his activities by the Guangzhou CPC Committee and Guangzhou People’s Government.
Responsible, dedicated and courageous in his efforts to alleviate poverty
From 2013 to 2015, he was stationed in Jianshan Village, Baxiangshan Township, Fengshun County, Meizhou City by the Guangzhou CPC Municipal Committee to help with poverty alleviation by boosting production and improving the appearance of the village. Its mountain location makes it suited for cultivating green tea, which he helped promote, along with safe drinking water for every household, road lighting, cultural and recreational facilities, renovation of the village-committee building, rural cooperative medical insurance for all the villagers, and students grants. His efforts and achievements were praised by the poverty-alleviation teams of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou Municipality, as well as the village committees, and he was named an Advanced Worker of Poverty Alleviation and Development in Guangzhou (2013- 2015).
Promoting China overseas, as well as economic and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries
The Federation of Overseas Chinese links the vast numbers of returned overseas Chinese, their relatives, and Chinese still living overseas. Guan Shufeng is focused on his task of staying close to all three groups and encouraging their unity, as well as using important events, such as traditional Chinese festivals, for spreading propaganda favourable to China in overseas venues. His activities have included organising the “Embrace China” art troupe of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Guangzhou, as well as various economic and cultural exchanges abroad; these take him to countries all over the world every year, with the aim of creating favorable impressions of China there and encouraging mutual understanding as well as economic and social development.
