Associate professor; famous Beijing post-secondary teacher
He was among the first directors of the Foreign Language Education Technology Committee of the Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese, and a full-award winner of the British Government Chevening Scholarship. He is a graduate of the Institute of Education at the University of London and Beijing International Studies University, and has obtained master’s degrees in Information and Communication Technology & Education and English Language and Literature.
He has nearly 20 years of experience teaching, and of doing research in online education, in which he has focused on networked computer-aided language learning, the integration of digital technology and online education, and other areas.
Since 2010, he has published nearly 20 papers in both Chinese and English, two of which have been collected by SCI, SSCI and EI, and has been engaged in many subjects or led the development of them at the national, provincial and ministerial levels. In recent years, he has given more than 50 online lectures inside and outside the OUC system, both at home and abroad. He has been interviewed by China Education Television, Hong Kong Cable TV, and the English version of China News Weekly, and has served on the agenda committees of the International Conference on Advanced Learning Technology (ICALT), the International Conference on Computers and Education (ICCE), and the Global Chinese Conference of Computers in Education (GCCCE). He has also served as an external-review expert for the International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning and Open Learning: The Journal of Open and Distance Learning. In the past he led the online-tutoring team of the Online Tutor Training Programme, a collaboration of the OUC and the Open University of the United Kingdom. He is currently leader of the OUC's core online course Computer Assisted English Teaching and Learning, which has been named an “excellent online open course”, and won the Best Practices Innovation Award in the selection of premium courses of the 2016 OUC system. In addition, he has served as a consultant for the Digital Language Experimental Teaching Center of Lanzhou Jiaotong University, and as an invited expert of the Digitisation of Middle School Education Professional Committee of the China Association of Education Technology (CAET).
