Shen Xinlin is a chief director and leading lecturer of the course Ancient Novels and Operas in the programme Chinese Language and Literature of the OUC (aka CCRTVU). He is a professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Nanjing Normal University. He is mainly engaged in the teaching and research of ancient Chinese literature, and his research is directed to the studies of ancient novels and operas and the studies of Li Yu. His professional academic work ‘Li Yu and Silent Operas’ (Liaoning Education Press, 1992) won the Third China Book Award and ‘A Critical Biography of Li Yu’ (Nanjing Normal University Press, 1998) won the Eighth Excellent National Education Book Award. In addition, he has written some 10 professional works and over 200 papers.
