Zhang Ming is a chief director and leading lecturer on the course Ancient Chinese Literature B (2) in the programme Chinese Language and Literature of the OUC (aka CCRTVU). He now works as a professor of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Peking University. He has been selected as the Most Popular Teacher among the students in Peking University; and History of Chinese Literature (for Song and Yuan Dynasties) led by him was chosen as a national outstanding course. His research is focused on the history of literature in the Song and Yuan dynasties, studies of Song Dynasty poetry, studies of lyrics in the Tang and Song dynasties, and his current research interest is concentrated on evolution of Song Dynasty poetry from the perspective of ideology and culture, the relationship between songwriting and the musical culture of song and dance, and the evolution of the life styles of ancient writers.
