Gong Xiangguo is a professor at Zhejiang Radio and Television University. He is editor-in-chief and lecturer for the Multimedia Material Processing and Microcomputer System and Maintenance courses. Since he came to Zhejiang Radio and TV University in 1983, he has been responsible for teaching courses such as Computer Graphics, Multimedia Technology and Applications, The Fundamentals of Multimedia Technology, Computer Drawing and Multimedia Software Applications. He has served as assistant to the Provost of the Office of Academic Affairs; deputy director of Electrified Education Office; director and deputy director of Department of Science and Technology; director of Network Centres; director of the CAD/CAI Laboratory; director of the Department of Computer Science and Technology; and dean of the Open Education College. At present, he holds the position of vice president responsible for teaching and academic affairs.
He has published over 20 theses in a number of academic publications such as Journal of System Simulation, Computer Application Research, China Distance Education, and China Educational Technology. He has published five textbooks, one collected paper, one network course, and two items of multimedia courseware in Science Press, China Central Radio and TV University Press, China’s Electronic Publications Data Centre and Zhejiang Literature & Arts Audio-Video Publishing House. Of his papers and books, Photoshop Training Tutorial received first prize for outstanding textbooks on higher vocational college information and technology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Textbook Construction Committee. In addition to that, his online course and online courseware won first prize from the Office of Education of Zhejiang province. He is group leader for the 10th five-year key projects of Zhejiang educational science, “The Research and Development of an Online Courseware Platform based on WEB”. He is also group leader of the Ministry of Education and CCRTVU joint project, “Computer Operating Systems: The Study and Practice of an Open Education and Teaching Formation”. He is also group leader of the online courseware for the Zhejiang province key college textbook construction projects “Fundamentals of Computer Culture”. Lastly, he is group leader of the school-level course project “The Study of digital learning skills under the situation of modern distance education”.
He has been named an “Outstanding Teacher of Zhejiang Province” by the Office of Education in 2002 and 2004 and an “Outstanding Communist of Zhejiang System University System” by the Education Working Committee of Zhejiang Province.
