Xu Xiaokai, professor, is course leader for the C-Language Programming (undergraduate) course as part of the OUC’s computer science and technology programme. He graduated from the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Nanjing University of Science and Technology in August 1982. He is now a professor of computer science at the OUC.
Since then, he has been engaged in teaching and research on computer science, and has been in charge of and taught a number of computer science courses, including C++ Programming, Data Structure, and Databases.。
He has published a number of textbooks and monographs on computer science, including A Concise Course on Data Structures, Data Structure Application Course, The Fundamentals of Database Technology, and The Fundamentals of C++, all published by Tsinghua University Press and selected as textbooks and reference books for postgraduate entrance exams by many advanced colleges and universities. Total distribution exceeds 200,000.
He has also led the compilation of several series of teaching materials on computer science, including a series of textbooks for computer application programme published by CCRTVU Press, and practical teaching materials for undergraduate computer programmes at regular advanced colleges and universities published by Tsinghua University Press.
He has acted as chief lecturer for many online streaming media courses and a C-Language Programming television class. He is a member of several organizations, including the Computer Science Education Steering Committee for Higher Technical and Vocational Schools in China during the 11th Five-Year Plan by the Ministry of Education, the National Expert Panel on Online Computer Science Examinations for Web-based Schools by the Ministry of Education, the Expert Panel on C-Language Programming of the National Computer Rank Examination of the National Education Examinations Authority, the National Research Association of Fundamental Computer Education and Research Association of Computer Education in Colleges and Universities of Beijing.
