The English major (undergraduate programme) was established in 1996. Students of the English major are mainly oriented to English teaching, English-Chinese translation, foreign exchange, and other front-line and administrative posts. In a follow-up survey on the quality of radio and television university graduates in 2006, the overall evaluation of the training quality of the English major by employers ranked first among the nine majors surveyed.
Education standards and objectives
Education standard: Undergraduate programme (starting from junior college level), two-year educational system, three-year part-time study, minimum length of study of two and a half years.
Education objectives: The major aims to cultivate practical professionals with English language who possess political integrity and professional competence. They should have a foundational knowledge of the English language and have strong English communication abilities, as well as the ability to engage in English teaching.
Degree objective: Bachelor of Arts
Curriculum modules
The major has eight modules: public basic courses, major foundation courses, professional courses, certificate courses, second foreign language, general education, practice courses, and supplementary courses.
