Brief Introduction:

The Engineering Research Centre of Integration and Application of Digital Learning Technology, Ministry of Education (MOE) was approved by the MOE in 2013. Relying on the Open University of China (OUC), it was approved for construction and passed the acceptance inspection by the MOE in 2019, officially commencing its operation. Aiming at the integrated innovation of digital learning technologies and the engineering practice innovation of large-scale online education, based on the needs of large-scale online education in the OUC, the centre is committed to cultivating high-level and high-calibre talent in the field of digital learning technologies, acting as a bridge for the transformation of scientific research achievements into practice, promoting the development of digital learning technologies and practices in China, and serving the construction of a national lifelong learning system for all.

The centre covers an area of 7,000 square metres and has more than 100 full-time and part-time research and technical personnel. In the past three years, a cumulative investment of 120 million yuan has been made. The centre has established an authoritative Technical Committee. Zhao Qinping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former vice minister of the MOE, serves as the director; Gu Xiaosong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, serves as the chief advisor; and Ming Dong, vice president of Tianjin University, serves as the deputy director of the Technical Committee. The centre has established an expert database of more than 500 people, including dozens of Changjiang Scholars and recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. Moreover, nine laboratories have been set up, such as the Online Education Technology Innovation Laboratory, the Online Education and Data Intelligence Laboratory, and the Educational Digital Architecture Laboratory.
